EGR Nox Control
Cawdell Group and its partners have developed a unique retrofit Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system for Nox control know as the ModulAir EGR.
The system is aimed at light commercial vehicles and has been particularly successful on London Black Cabs demonstrating over 60% reduction in Nox. When combined with the ECS AZ Catalyst it is possible to convert a Euro1 or Euro2 engine to Euro3 standards.
The ModulAir EGR system has no electronics and no moving parts. It consists of venturis located in the exhaust system and intake manifold, a long EGR transfer pipe/cooler, and high temperature flexible pipes. During in-service operation the system has demonstrated a slight self-cleaning capability due to the flow direction being reversed at low engine speeds.
All metallic components are stainless steel. All brackets utilise existing chassis holes.
Normally a complete stainless steel exhaust system forms part of the kit.
The system (sold to the taxi trade as The TaxiCat System) is proving a popular choice for taxi owners with over 4,500 in service allowing older taxis to comply with London Taxi and Manchester Taxi emissions strategies. The ModulAir EGR can also be used on light commercial vehicles to help Local Authorities meet Air Quality Targets.
